30 Apr: Wipe your feet before napping...
29 Apr: White flowers with pink thingies in the midde.
28 Apr: "So what do you think of that, Mr. Simmons?"
27 Apr: "See my nubs? I may be just cute now, but one day, I'll be king!"
26 Apr: Beast or butterfly...
25 Apr: This was one of two items my dad brought home from WWII - the other was a downward-curved, beautifully carved briar pipe. For some reason, I thought it would be easy to shoot something sitting still, but quickly found out....well, there IS evidence. This is the image I chose after shooting.... many. To show it properly would take several views, but my objective was to produce a picture for the day and pehaps appeal to any camera historians out there at the same time. I now have a greater appreciation for those that take pictures of inanimate objects.

Across the top, in black on black, is the name Krauss. Someone told me it was the company? that built the bombsights for German aircraft.

Encirling the lens: G. A. Krauss. Stuttgart. Rollar-Anastigmat 1:5.5 f=9cm

To the right of the lens, in the circle, is a propeller-like symbol, with the letters A, G, and C, with the C on the bottom. Seems to me that it should read G, A, K; maybe the stamper had a bad day -- I assume the stamping was all done by hand.

Aperature range: f5.5 - f25
Shutter speeds (PRONTO): 1/25, 1/50, 1/100, B, and T - surprised that B & T in German are B & T.

On the brass leg stand: Rollette

As I remember, the roll film size is between 120 and 620. Many years ago, I considered having some film cut down, but never did. Perhaps it was (or is?) a standard size in Europe. The film spool cover lock has the letters Z (locked) and A (open).

It has a tripod socket (yes, metal!) on the left, a shutter release cable fitting, and a speed finder, shown in the deployed position. I'm sure it would be handy for tracking birds in flight and equally certain that the lightning fast 1/100 second maximum shutter speed would freeze hawk or hummer. The optical viewfinder (right of shutter speed pointer) swivels for portrait or landscape shots.

Unfolded, it measures 5 x 3.7 x 2.7 (inches) and folds to 5 x 1 x 2.7, which easily fits in a shirt pocket, but the pocket must be strong, because it's quite heavy - about a pound.
24 Apr: Munch...swat...munch...swat...
23 Apr: Soft ripples.
22 Apr: Jay.
